Featured Guest: Yael Averbuch
The NWSL just completed its fifth season. With the growth of the league came attendance records and a new TV deal. As well as, the creation of the first ever player’s association for the league. On the seventh episode of the Free Kicks Report, I invited Yael Averbuch, FC Kanas City (now Salt Lake City) defender and President of the NWSL Player’s Association onto the show. We discuss the formation of that group, the NWSL, her career, and business away from the game.
Yael’s path has taken her from the national titles at the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill to the US Women’s National Team to NWSL champion. A leader on and off the pitch, she’s begun translating that experience into her training company, Techne Futbol.
As the NWSL goes through another franchise shift this offseason, it’s good to know that the player’s conditions and benefits are beginning to be formally discussed.
