We are mere hours away from finding out whether Toronto will be playing Seattle or Houston in the MLS Cup again this year. While these three teams are still going for glory, the rest of the MLS are in preseason for 2018 and are preparing rosters for next year.
Milton Valenzuela to Columbus Crew
As Columbus was still preparing for the Eastern Conference final, they were reportedly linked to 19-year-old fullback Milton Valenzuela. Valenzuela would come on a year-long loan with the option to buy, costing the club up to $1 million.
Likelihood: 60% (chance of Valenzuela signing with the Crew)
Chicharito to LA FC
This is very much a rumor, still in the making, but with West Ham having a terrible season in the EPL, sitting in 18th with 10 points, Chicharito might want a way out. It seems like LA FC might try to take advantage of the situation.
Likelihood: 20% (chance of Chicharito signing with LAFC)
Cristian Casseres JR. to New York Red Bulls
17-year-old Venezuelan wonder kid Cristian Casseres is rumored to be set to join the New York Red Bulls in January of 2018. The forward’s contract ends with Deportivo La Guaira at the end of the calendar year, making this a steal of a free transfer.
Likelihood: 60% (chance that Casseres joins the Red Bulls).
Cyle Larin to Europe
We are back again with another Cyle Larin rumor. This time, though, West Brom, Celtic and a handful of Turkish sides are involved. If West Brom goes through with the transfer, he would immediately go on loan in Belgium or Holland.
Likelihood: 40% (chance of Larin going to Europe)
Hector Villalba to Wolverhampton Wanderers
Though no transfer action has happened around this rumor yet, it seems Villalba is getting some attention from overseas, specifically in this case from Wolves in the English Championship. Don’t expect this rumor to go anywhere, though. Atlanta has proven to want to keep their best players, no matter how much money is thrown at them.
Likelihood: 10% (chance of Villalba going to Wolves)
patrick Mullins and Jalen Robinson to Swansea City
Patrick Mullins and Jael Robinson, both DC United players, will be training with Swansea City for the next few weeks. Though this doesn’t necessarily have to become a transfer rumor, it could lead to something more, though very unlikely.
Likelihood: 5% (chance of Mullins and Robinson going to Swansea)
Jermaine Jones to LIga MX
It seems like everyone’s favorite former USMNT personality is on his way out of the MLS and wants to end up in Liga MX. The rumor itself has Jones most likely going to UNAM Pumas but outside of that, there isn’t much to go on, though the move does seem possible.
Likelihood: 65% (chance of Jones going to Liga MX)
Wesley Sneijder to LAFC
Though this rumor hasn’t gained much ground, this move would fit the former Dutch international. The fact that no other major news site has picked up on the rumor, though, means that if anything it is still in the early stages.
Likelihood: 20% (chance of Jones going to Liga MX)
ANton Tinnerholm to MLS
Anton Tinnerholm has apparently signed with some MLS team, but no one knows exactly who. The Swedish fullback would be a great signing for anyone, and it is hard to guess where he has signed, especially since most MLS sides could use an upgrade in their fullback/wingback selection.
Likelihood: 90% (chance of Tinnerhold going to MLS)
Ezequiel Barco to Atlanta United
Atlanta doesn’t seem afraid to spend the big bucks. Rumor has it, the club is ready to spend $14 million for Ezequiel Barco which would break the MLS transfer record. The 18-year-old playmaker would be a wonderful signing for the club and the MLS. As for now, though, Barco wants to solely focus on winning the Copa Sudamericana with Independiente.
Likelihood: 70% (chance of Barco going to Atlanta)

Joao to Leave Chicago Fire
Centerback Joao Meira has officially announced that he will not be a part of the Chicago Fire in 2018 after two years. Where the 30-year-old will end up is unknown.
Johan Blomberg Signs With Colorado Rapids
The Rapids have officially announced the signing of Swedish midfielder Johan Blomberg. The 30-year-old played for AIK Fotboll in the Swedish league for two years, finishing runners-up both of those years. Blomberg should bring some experience and stability that Colorado’s midfield has been missing since Cronin was transferred to Minnesota.
Omar Gaber Signs with LAFC
The Egyptian defender Omar Gaber has signed with LAFC on loan from FC Basel. He played with LAFC head coach Bob Bradley from 2011-2013 when he was the head coach of the Egyptian National Team. The 25-year-old will be an important rock in the back of the LAFC defense in 2018.
Michael Amier MUrillo Signs with New York Red Bulls
This is a move that has been in the making for a while. The Red Bulls have officially purchased Michael Amir Murillo after signing with New York on loan from San Francisco FC last February. The 21-year-old’s defensive versatility will be important for the Red Bulls moving into the 2018 season.
Greg Garza Signs Permanent Deal with Atlanta United
Atlanta United and USMNT leftback Greg Garza has ended his loan with Atlanta United by signing a multiyear contract with the Five Stripes. Getting the 26-year-old leftback permanently is not only great business from Atlanta’s point of view, but also will provide a great way for Garza to get involved with the national team again.
