Welcome to 2018. During the fourth quarter of 2017, I launched the Free Kicks Report. The original idea was to focus on interviewing individuals across the soccer landscape. Ten episodes in and I’ve been able to talk with players, team owners, a writer, and even two brewers! The sport is rich across the US, and the podcast looked to highlight that. We visited five domestic leagues – MLS, NWSL, USL, PDL, and NPSL – as well as Paige Nielsen’s experience playing around the globe.
Due to a change by the podcast hosting service, as well as some big changes in my personal life, the Free Kicks Report will be shifting in 2018. Effectively immediately the interview series is being combined with the MLS Multiplex podcast. You can find those archive recordings here. The idea is that during the Spring (hopefully April), the MLS Multiplex Podcast will return with bi-weekly shows analyzing league action and news (with me as the host). Meanwhile, the Free Kicks Report interview series will continue on in that space as well.
You’ll notice many of the names from Free Kicks Report appear on MLS Multiplex as well. Jordan serves as the other site expert, while Matt Nelson will continue his coverage of the MLS transfer market.
I’d like to thank everyone for their support of the Free Kicks Report to date, and hope to continue earning your support at our new home – MLS Multiplex. Thanks to all the readers and listeners. Thanks to the guests for making time and sharing your stories. And thanks to the writers for contributing your voice to the Free Kicks Report.
